  2. Text and figures: minimum 5 mm | Headings: minimum 10 mm
  3. Title, authors, and affiliations near the top in letters ~25 mm high
  4. Use high-contrast but soothing colours
  5. Print with a matt finish (glossy papers distract in bright rooms)

Authors must bring their poster or arrange local printing on their own.

Best Practices for Effective Posters

1

Central Theme

The paper's central theme should be obvious to a casual reader in 30-45 seconds. Focus on THE most important aspect.

2

Customise Layout

A poster is not a printed presentation. Invest time to customise the layout, content, and flow.

3

Visual Communication

Best posters communicate visually. Use graphs and avoid walls of text.

4

Annotate Graphics

Annotate graphs with labels, arrows, and line diagrams. Highlight key take-home messages.

5

Reading Sequence

The reading sequence should be obvious. People read left to right, top to bottom.

6

Avoid Clutter

Keep the design clean and uncluttered for maximum impact.

7

Be Present

Be present during the session and engage with attendees. Lonely posters are ignored.

8

Business Cards

Consider attaching an envelope underneath holding your business cards.

9

QR Codes

Extra information or preprints can be distributed electronically with QR codes.
